BHP Chamber Membership Awards Celebration

High Point, NC – On Tuesday, February 19th, Business High Point – Chamber of Commerce (BHP Chamber) hosted its annual Membership Awards Celebration at the High Point Country Club. Each February, BHP Chamber recognizes its members for their outstanding commitment to the High Point community! 

The Celebration honors members who have been in business for 50, 75 and 100 years and awards the Small Business of the Year, Business of the Year, Young Professional of the Year, Community Organization of the Year, and Vision Investor of the Year, which comprise the Chamber Awards Series. Also awarded are the prestigious Volunteer and Distinguished Citizen of the Year. This year BHP Chamber awarded two additional awards, Minority-Owned Business of the year and the President’s Award.

Patrick Chapin, BHP Chamber President & CEO, explains the importance of this celebration, “This is our opportunity to thank our members for their support and dedication while recognizing them for the amazing contributions they are making to our community.”

David S. Congdon, BHP Chairman shares “This event is a time where High Point leaders from the business community gather to celebrate one another. This year we had the honor of awarding my dear friend, the late Robert G. Culp III, as Distinguished Citizen of the Year. I cannot think of a more deserving person.”

Other award recipients honored by BHP Chamber include:
• Vision Investor of the Year — Mark A. Norcross of X8 Aviation for his for dedication and leadership on the High Point 365 project.
• Volunteer of the Year — Eric Abeles for being actively involved with the Chamber for over decade, serving on numerous committees and boards.
• President’s Award — Barbour Spangle Design for making a tremendous community impact through their High Point Discovered blog.
• Small Business of the Year — Northwood Animal Hospital, who hosts numerous community events and supports countless local charities.
• Business of the Year — Bethany Medical Center, for their service to our community for over 30 years, employing 35 healthcare providers and 350 support staff members.
• Minority-Owned Business of the Year — Karma Contracting, who is a relentless advocate for minority businesses all across the Triad
• Community Organization of the Year — Bobby Labonte Foundation for their dedication to serving families and children in need through the development of grant program to benefit local organizations.
• Young Professional of the Year — Cyril Jefferson for his relentless service to his community through his work with Communities in Schools.
• Celebrating 50 years in business — AirPower, Inc., First Citizens Bank
• Celebrating 75 years in business — Davis Furniture, Kao Specialties Americas, LLC
