DESCRIPTION:SummerSounds Concert Series is the High Point Arts Council's 2026 summer outdoor concert series\, offering free live music on Friday evenings from 6:00 8:00 p.m. Concerts take place throughout the summer in parks and across the City of High Point\, the Town of Jamestown and in Centennial Station Arts Center\, making live music accessible and enjoyable for the entire community. This season's lineup features a diverse mix of musical genres\, including reggae\, big band\, Latin\, and jazz. Titus Gant is a jazz saxophonist\, music educator\, and nonprofit founder dedicated to advancing arts education and cultural excellence. A native of Reevesville\, South Carolina\, he began his musical journey in the church before discovering the saxophone at age ten. He earned a full scholarship to Claflin University\, where he received a degree in Music Education\, and later completed postgraduate studies in jazz at North Carolina Central University. As a performer\, Titus has shared the stage with acclaimed artists including Branford Marsalis and Kim Burrell\, and has performed for notable figures such as President Barack Obama. His work has been featured on NPR's The State of Things (WUNC). In 2022\, he released his debut album One\, blending jazz tradition with groove and spiritual expression. Through both artistic excellence and institutional leadership\, Titus Gant continues to shape the cultural and educational landscape of his community\, building systems that will serve future generations of musicians. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and relax under the evening sky. Food trucks will be on-site with food and beverages available for purchase\; however\, outside alcohol is not permitted. At each concert\, attendees are invited to donate non-perishable food and household items to support A Simple Gesture\, helping residents of Guilford County in need.
